Are You sure, that You cracked the EU Noise restriction?
Did You Confirm by pressing play button, or went back without doing it in the Service Menu?

You probably need to check c if you've done the uncap right. Or you could be using high impedance head/earphones. I use e4c canalphone and i think volume about half way is adequate. Otherwise, check your ears? j/k

Maybe the best way, would be to put earphones properly into ears

i do understand your discontent. It's quiet. You just have to live with it. tiny flash-players (any brand) are even louder. I suggest you go for AKG K26P (the light in my life right now )

If you have cracked the EU limit which I don't think you have by the sounds of it, and it's still quiet get a cheap small external amp. Just search headphone amp on ebay and set HD5 to line out and play through the headphones.

Also, what type of headphones/earphones are you using? You want to use phones with at least 102-104 db/mw sensitivity for good volume.
