What are projection screens made of?

I am thinking of making my own screen, but I need to know what they are made of.
I have read somewhere that the material is thin glassfiber which is then painted. But what type of paint do they use? If you want the paint to be flexible you must have a softener in it which makes it never to dry completly. Or am I wrong?

The option to use a MDF board is out of the question as it has a too low WAF (Wife acceptance factor).And a ordinary screen is way to expensive in the size I want (2.4 meters wide)

Are you a man or a mouse, why should the wife care about the screen material, its going to be big and white (or grey). If you don't put your foot down now she will be wanting pink frilly curtains around it!

why not try the screen section over at avs http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forum...php?forumid=23 i'm sure you could find some usfull idears there . there is a lot of talk about paint ect.
