Turntables?
I have a Dunlopsystem X 11
I think - somewhere in a box.
Am I right in thinking that Audio Note (UK) have them now?
What is it worth I wonder with a Linn Basic attached?
If she's old news - what would be agood repalcement for around the £1.2K region?
I will need to change my pre too.
Thanks
Tim

If your looking at second hand equipment the range of good quality decks should be very large. Linn, Townsend Rock (my favorite), Pink Triangle, Gyrodec etc

They do, in fact the Audio Note website openly admits that their TT1 is "derived from the award-winning Systemdeck (sic) IIX". I've owned a IIX 900/Linn Akito for 15 years, currently with a Goldring Elite cartridge. They respond well to tweaking: mine has the optional acrylic platter and a Hi-Fi News & Record Review Flutterbuster power supply, and I remember Hi-Fi World fitting an SME 309 to one in the mid-90s.

£1200 will buy you a lot of TT, You can get a mint Gyro SE - with Technoarm for that money, or a very nice 2nd hand LP12, Project RPM9, Roksan Xeres, Clearaudio, Nottingham Analogue ... etc etc. Heard an Audio Note TT2 once, was a beautiful sounding deck to these ears. As you mention budget for a decent phono stage £200-300 - ie from Graham Slee, Trichord dino, TE Microgroover, Clearaudio etc etc.

Don't forget VPI. The Aries Scout is very nice deck for the money. Lovely unipivot tonearm too. About £1200 new. Not many dealers in the UK though: http://www.vpiindustries.com/scout.htm
If I get a TT for my other system, it'll be this.

Best note this link then
http://www.cherished-record-company.co.uk/
for the low profile importer - check their site for deals, they did me a good deal on my cleaning machine, personally delivered. Another Cornish based company, although I think they feel its LP's first, the spinner comes second - but I'd agree with that philosophy

Indeed, I'm pretty good with the rules here I think. I'm not planning on putting it up for sale at the moment, but if the Duke was after one, I'd have asked him to put a wanted thread up, and we'd have discussed more there.

There's nothing wrong with the RPM9 DT, nothing wrong. You don't need the VPI - you have other things to pay for. You're skint & xmas is round the corner. you're going on holiday next week and need the money
Arrrghhhhh, the agony!!!!!

Oh bugger, I've e-mailed them too. If they're still available there could be an RPM9 in the classifieds soon

Oh, two emails to Cherished, in sleepy Cornwall in one day & not about LP's - they won't know what's hit them.
I would like to make it clear that I take no responsibility for the movement or transfer of personal finacial holdings to any Hi-Fi Emporium, due to reasons of upgrade lust, musical enhancement or any other reason whatsoever. As such I will not be held personnly responsible for the ensuing discord between those entering into negotiations with any said emporium and close family members and/or finacial institutions.
