sony mds-ja333es vs. sony mds-ja555es.
howdo all,
does anyone know which of these players is best, the sony mds-ja333es or the 555es? and the difference between them both?

I think this might be better suited to the HiFi section as those 2 units are MD separates, so moving to there.

I used to have the 333, and it was beautiful, with a sound that rivalled some of the CDs I owned! Never compared it to the 555 but never had a need to. The only reason I sold it was so it didnt depreciate too much with the advent of MP3 players and the like.

Both are excellent MD decks, go for whatever one is cheaper.
I would also back up the sentiments above that I have never heard MD sounding inferior to CD, I always used to pipe (and still do) the digital output towards a DAC, and guess what using the DACs Ive owned and my current convertor (Toshiba) MD sounds as good as CD.
Its all about the analogue outputs stage, and the 333/555 both have stunning output from their own DACs.

The only advice I can give on any of these ES decks is make sure the transport is in rude health as they a very expensive fix. My JA20ES was totalled for the want of about 3p's worth of plastic  .

i get a mds-ja333es delivered for my use tomorrow. can you tell me is it best to record use analog cables or a digital cable?
