Post to add to reiner's just seen: the fast nd the furious

free tickets form radio 1 which was a good start.

wouldn't have minded paying to see the film though.

AN excellent car chase film, not a great deal of plot, but who gives a sh*t, you go to see car chases and action.

Well fantastic action scenes, film seemed to lasta long time, probably due to fast and frequent scene changes, which kept the pace of the movie up.

As for the soundtrack, i dont know what format, no trailer, but it was probably the best i have heard, with excellently placed effects, could have been dts or sdds, i dont know, but it certainly sounded good.

to to p it off, it also featured a 900hp black 1968 dodge charger, wow.

so go see this, the best film i have seen this year.

Cool

I`m off this saturday to see the `fast and furious`,nice to hear you enjoyed this film so much,I remember a short piece with the director from the `Coming Attractions` site that said he wanted his sound design team to record every single component in the cars so that the audience would get the feeling that they are sitting right there in the car,and they would hear that gear change/turbo wind up/etc and from your report it seems they did a good job,I can`t wait to see and hear this one!!

Just seen `The fast and the furious` at the new 9 screen `Cineworld`complex at Touchwood Solihull - (will post a seperate review of that experience)and as previously stated it`s a great no brainer with great chases and the sound is stunning, aggresive use of the surrounds at all times - when the dvd is released(dec` I think)your system will get a thorough workout make no mistake!!The film is a great couple of hours entertainment, even my wife enjoyed it and she wasn`t expecting to at all!!come to think of it the cinema was 50/50 male/female and all the ladies really seemed to like it - don`t know if it was your man `Vin Diesel`they were approving of??- who is the new action hero no questions/no doubt!!If you like cars then this is your kind of movie, just can`t wait for the dvd

i went to a new one of them to see it, it was quite good, but not such a convenient location and not such great seating, not that it was bad, i just think the seating at my local ugc is better, with a minimum of 1 metre's legroom in eaach cinema, so ne need for the chairs to flip up.

cant wait for the dvd also, now feeling the need somewhat ot get a sub.

Cool

I caught this recently at the much lauded UGC cinema in Sheffield on its largest screen (Once refered to as 'The Full Monty' screen in reference to its sheer size).Unfortunately it appears the UGC has lost its THX certificate for 'The Full Monty' but it's still quite an impressive way to see a movie.
Since UGC bought out the chain of Virgin Cinemas the complex in Sheffield seems to have suffered as a result.Closure of the restaurant and Premier Screens and as mentioned earlier a loss of its THX certificate have all contributed to the decline of this once unique movie-going experience (at least they still have the monthly passes at £9.99).

Anyway I digress,The Fast and The Furious is, as stated by the good folk above, well short on plot which merely acts as padding for the great race sequences and stunts.
Very entertaining and highly enjoyable. It should certainly be one to put your Home Cinema system through its paces when it lands on dvd. Here's hoping it has a DTS soundtrack.
