well first looks,

Got keyboard home and opend u, Looks fantastic with everything just in the right place. The keyboard has a nice amout of weight to make it feel good quality solid. I have not had chance to use the keyboard and mouse nipple thing yet as i found that i needed to download a driver which im doing today at work. (broadband 5 days away)

Well i have got the hotfix installed and i can say yes this is fantastic. Yes the keyboard does take a little getting used to and needs a little tweeking but it serves its function for things like the internet etc . . .

the only thing i can see wrong with it is the learning feature as if i program to turn tv on / off it only learns on or off (depends what state the TV is in) which the MS remote tackled quite well

Got mine the other day - works great in or out of MCE. Shame my vol up button is DOA.

Mouse is little wierd but like a mousepad, you get used to it.

It even stood up to a few hours of Serious Sam 2nd Edition last night.

Hi all

Just built my HTPC last week and thought I'd go for the Microsoft Media KB. Buttons are great but if you have the control its not really needed, and I have to say the mouse is terrible.

Anyway after a dig around the web I found a company called www.ceratech.co.uk that do trackball KBs.

Originall I was looking @ the ACCURATUS 573 MINI KEYBOARD, I called the site and spoke to a very friendly woman who said thay have a new long range 'Optical Trackball' KB just out (not on their site as yet), anyway she sent the info and I've ordered (£54.36 with delivery)

Ive linked the info to my site so have a look,

www.irishkeet.com/htpc/Saturn.doc

I have to say its looks really stylish, if anyone is interested Ill let you know if its any good over the weekend?

it looks ok, and I'm sure the trackball would be better that the nipple but I have to say it doesn't seem to have anything over the MCE KB...

I know it's slightly more gadgetry but I have a Logitech Surfman for normal Windows functions and does me for mouse controls.

The MCE KB has all the short cut keys to all the MCE areas...just one click and it can learn from the remote as well.

Does the 573 use the MCE IR Receiver or does it have to have it's own?

the 573 has it's own IR - the Saturn is RF though.....being RF that's something I'd say it has over the MCE keyboard..and tracker ball is sooo much better than the nipple/joystick affairs of the BTC9116/9019 etc...it also has some shortcut keys...
