macros on marantz 5000i

Hi,<br />i have a Marantz 5000i and have just about set it up ok to replace all my remotes-so far so good! now i have come to try and do some macros on it and i am completely stuck, i just dont know how to record macros on the thing,the manual is confusing too,is there an easy way you folk can explain how to do them or is there maybe some unofficial manual that i can find to explain things in simpler terms for us thickies,<br />ANY help would be gratefully recieved,i'll try remotecentral as well but please spare me a little of your time if you can.<br />thank you,<br />John.

The easiest way I have found is to learn all your original remotes in there as is. Then create a nice new page with a button, and then assign a seies of actions to that button aliasing to the originals:

Eg<br />1. DVD-PowerOn<br />2. TV-PowerOn<br />3. Amp-PowerOn<br />4. TV-InputDVD<br />5. Amp-InputDVD<br />6. DVD-Play

Then when you press this button the Pronto will run through each of these, effectively 'pressing' each of these buttons for you.

Depends on what you want to do. If you want a single button to do multiple things then that is easy. There is no need for a seperate macros page.

In my case, i have an On and Off button on my home page which controls my amp, tv and sky.

It has the following under the action tab:

[B] TV - misc - power off<br />[D] 0.5 sec<br />[B] SKY - misc - power off<br />[B] RECEIVER - keys - power off

use the ALIAS to add the additional functions. You may want to add a 0.5sec delay between certain devices if you find one device does not respond.

Do not recreate an action, always use an alias as this saves memory.

Dont forget your 'delays' between each command as i find my system will miss commands without them. you may even need to increase delays from 0.1 (default) to 0.5.. i find this helps and you wont notice an extra 0.4 secs the reason for this is that (correct me if im wrong guys) when an IR command is sent to a device all the other equipment closes its IR eye for a split second so as not to get confused (i think.. better ask General Shanky to be sure though!)

I assumed what happens is that each IR stream has a code identifying the machine it's for, and all the other receive it but just ignore it because it's not for them. If you have two Sony VCRs for example, they'll probably both react
