Arcam AVP700 vs Meridian 561M

How would you compare this two processors?

Anyone experienced both?

I've the Meridian and was looking for some good WAF gear to replace it that had component inputs/output. HDMI is nice too

I've had a Meridian 565 and compared to that I prefer the newer processors.

I thought it struggled a little but the 561 is closer to the 568 I think? not really sure. I think the Arcam would give a very good sound ... but WAF it's not very pretty looking. Looks like they just stuck it in the AVR300 box to me which is disappointing.

But it matches my FMJ27A.

So in that department is way better than the 561M WAF wise...

But sound wise really don't know

Well if it's to match a FMJ then you know what you really need/want :-)
AV8 and about 9 P1s ;-)

Not too sure about a 561 but a 568 hammers the AV8 in all respects but then it should, it's a lot more expensive.

Mini event 2 processor comparison

Interesting thread comparing AV8 and the replacement for the 568, the G68. Personally I prefer the AV8 in it's latest incarnation (software 4).

The baby Arcam I have heard is good, but I haven't heard it yet, with the AV9 perhaps there are deals to had with the AV8

Interesting you should say this and I assume it's based on personal experience. In my case I have a 568.1 and recently demoed the AV8 against it. To my ears, the Arcam was the slightly better sounding machine.

I've already listened to the G68 and didn't care for it much. I'm now just waiting to see if the AV8 is replaced in the next few months before making a final decision on a replacement for the 568. Don't get me wrong, the 568 even in .1 form is still a fantastic machine and I've been very happy with it.
