Post Sony Digibox and Sky Planner

A mate of mine has a Sony digibox and still does not have the new Sky planner software. Can those of you with Sony digiboxes let me know if you have this new software yet or not.

Cheers.

Martin.

Martin

I still don't have the Personal Planner on my Sony Digibox, despite trying forced upgrades.

Reading elsewhere I don't think that Sky have released the upgrade for the Sony box. Given the current problems with the new software on other boxes, I suspect that we may have to wait some time.

Regards

William

The software really buggers up your system, so don't go forcing it just yet

Have Sony STB. Spoke to Sky last night 5/7 & after 1/2 hour on phone they confirmed that they have no plans at present to upgrade EPG software for Sony boxes, although they are not discounting it for the future.

This would certainly explain why the planner hasn't yet appeared.

However, I don't mind waiting until they've tested it properly and got it working reliably.

Pity the adverts for the new software don't point this out! That's a disgusting answer!

With all the problems it sounds wise to avoid an upgrade at the mo' (though my Sony has only just got over previous problems with freezing/ sound breaking up etc).

Just out of interest though does the Sony have a non-standard way of forcing updates? I've done it onece but can't seem to repeat the process?

As far as I know the Sony uses the standard method (well it works for me anyway) which is:

1. Unplug the box.
2. Hold down the backup button on the front panel.
3. Plug the box in and keep the button pressed until all 3 of the LEDS illuminate, you should get an onscreen message warning you that an update is in progress and that you shouldn't disconnect, power off, etc.

That should do the trick.

Incidentally when I called Sky earlier this week to pre-register for Sky Plus, they still didn't have a clue when the EPG planner updates for the Sony boxes would be available. They trotted out the old "We're doing them in batches and haven't got round to you yet" story, which sounds pretty unconvincing .
