Budget Yamaha YAM-RXV357 - any good?

Hi there....

I'm no purist as my setup at home suggests but I want to improve things without spending a small fortune.

At the moment I have a cheap DVD with a built in DTS/Digital decoder that can output to a 5:1 AMP (coax on each channel) and then from there out to each speaker... this is fine but is severely limiting because the AMP has no single coax or optical input).

I recently pruchased a Samsung 32" HD Ready LCD TV and am considering using my Xbox as my main upscaling DVD player. I have the Xbox HD kit and that can output optical... but I'd need a different amp obviously.

The current speakers I have are OK I think but for a budget amp would this Yamaha be OK?

At this stage I am not fussed about THX, 6:1 etc... I just want resonable quality surround sound without the massive price tag...

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.
