I think the answer is yes but....

If if purchase a TIVO I believe it's an RGB scart. I need to connect it to an AMP using S-video. I presume I can just use a Scart to S-video/audio lead.

Is this correct?

No, it isn't. The Scart output will probably be either RGB or composite. A Scart to s-video lead does not convert anything and assumes s-video output from the Scart socket.

You could use an RGB to s-video converter. Try www.rgbtosvideo.com (http://www.rgbtosvideo.com)

Are there any reasonable faq's on the spaghetti aspect of home cinema? I know the component, rgb, composite hierarchy but things like the above I obviously don't know.
