Hi, I am looking to buy a new video recorder in the next couple of months and would like some advice as to what is out there. On the new video I would like the following features –

Ability to record and playback in 16:9
NTSC playback and recording if possible
The ability to control a Sky Digibox channels when recording.
Nicam Stereo.

Is it worth going for an S-VHS machine, can you still play normal tapes on these ?

Thanks in anticipation for your help

Peter

Briefly, super VHS machines can play and record using standard VHS tapes but To benefit from S VHS you will need to use more costly S VHS tapes for improved picture quality.

Go for something like 1 of the jvc range, i recently brought the 6700 model which has all the features your looking for at a price of less than £200, a bargain, great pic, great sound and svhs et, a bargain and a best buy award, all the best chrisyt. ;)
