I just purchased a Panasonic DMRE20 DVD Recorder. I was looking at D-VHS recorder but this justt came out and I got it for only $899 US. This looks to be a promising form for storage. It records on DVD-R - which are now about $6 each and will be able to play on set top DVD players. Others may consider this.
Here's where I bougt mine, they got it only on Oct. 2:

I don't get it until next Monday so I can't comment on performance now. Hope this helps those interested.

Hi
I have been interested in purchasing a dvd recorder from overseas for a while but was never sure whether it would work properly in the Uk.
Have you had any problems with yours. Does it record and play pal broadcasts?
Be interested to find out.
Cheers

Hi, don't intend this as a rain on the parade style email, but was wondering is it PAL capable and switchable to Euro/UK voltage? I ask because the Philips model coming out has one for both markets that is not equiped for PAL usage - NTSC only. The site listed above doesn't seem to make clear if it's ok for here.
Panasonic are doing one with a HDD - dvdrecorder muddle pages, Malcolm has put up this link http://www.avland.co.uk/panasonic/dmrhs1/index.htm
