Ye Gods! The latter is more than I paid for two very nicely specified PCs for my daughters & doubtless you have to pay extra if you actually want a power supply. I have a swimming pool & it always seems to me that anything that is required for a pool (pumps, pipes etc) costs at least 2 or 3 times what it would if it were for e.g. garden use. It looks like a HTPC specification ensures a similar 2-3 X uplift on the real value.

Do you know if they are already available in the UK?

Do they have a version of the one at the top without the VFD like they have of the LC14? I was thinking of getting the LC14 (not the LC14M) but this one seems to have a front FD bay where I could install a memory card reader... so if it is available without the VFD I might actually go for it.

tis all horses for courses....

it all depends what type of computer you want to fit in there really...
i personally think the lc16 in black wouldnt look out of place in anyones rack...
(most of my components are that double height size anyhow)

im pretty sure these two are out in the next month or so...

i havent seen this one without the vfd tho that doesnt mean they wont make one... Erm, i think the thing that looks like a 3.5inch bay is actually a flip down panel which reveals usb/firewire ports and the like...

Yep, I did a bit of research since and you are right. It is not a floppy bay.
The case is tipped to be out at the end of the month, nobody really knows if there will be a non-VFD version, for now they are expecting the VFD version to hit the shop at the end of this month (ie in two weeks time or so). It will be in the region of two hundred pounds.

I have decided to go for the LC14-B so I won't be waiting for this case.
I would like the remote from the LC14M but I really rather not have a VFD (call it a hifi habbit) so the M version in my case doesn't really justify the price difference.

Should get the LC14 in black here next wednesday, can't wait to see it in the flesh!

Cheers

End of September.
There's also the LC17 - which is an 18 minus the TFT.
The prices quoted fathazza are probably on the low side. we expect to sell the LC16 for about £200+VAT and the LC18 for £480+VAT

It's really nice in silver....
Shame they had to put the fake wood bit on the black version - it really spoils it IMHO

i took my prices from here and here

who is it you mean when you say "we"?

personally i think i might plump for an lc16 if i can afford it, but if im feeling cheap ill get myself and lc10 which ive seen around for £75 ish. im somewhat restricted in that the board i want to use in my htpc is one of those aopen tube boards and im thus restricted to an full atx case

interesting.I can only go on what our supplier has already told me (AFAIK they're the only official UK distro - could be wrong though) - the prices on the rest of the range look spot on though, so either I've been told the wrong prices (£440+VAT for the LC18, so when you add shipping to us and the 3% the CC company charge per transaction etc, there ain't a lot of profit in them) or they've got themselves a bundle of cheap stock...
I was about to put my personal system in a silver LC14m, but not he LC16 is here, I'll be going for that instead

Who 'we' are I cannot say as a non-advertiser this will break forum rules.

*edit* Seems there have been 2 new silverstone distro's added since I started buying them....giess I'll be ringing them in the morning
