please help connecting tablet pc to my home pc

Ive recently aqquired a Fujitsu Pencentra 130 tablet pc which i would like to fit a wifi card to and eventually some sort of remote control software for my MCE2005 system. Here is my problem

Ive connected the tablet via a com lead (have also tried with a usb lead) to the home pc but it will not sync with active sync, windows will search for available ports and come up with com 1 & 2 plus usb but will not connect to the tablet at all.

I know the pc see's the tablet as if i go under start/my computer it shows it as a handheld device.

any suggestions/pointers most appreciated

With the tablet disconnected from the PC, try deleting any existing partnerships in Activesync.

File > Delete Partnership.

Hi Stuart,

do you actually want to sync the two machines? or are you just trying to get them talking to each other?

If you don't need/want activesync, just get the Wifi card installed in the tabletPC, then have a read through the link meansizzler posted earlier...
basically all the software you need is already installed on both PCs... all you need to do is get them both on the network and you're away...!

I want to be able to download software such as remote control software to the tablet but guess i can do that over wifi ?

Basically all i want to use the tablet for is a bit of surfing and as a remote control.

I am awaitind delivery of the wifi card, when this arrives Im not sure if it will be just plug and go or if i will need to install software on the tablet, if i need to install software how will i do this without a connection to the main pc

I will try to read through the mentioned thrwad tonight and see if that helps,

thanks all for your help, fingers crossed ill get there eventualy

Can you "explore" the tablet from the PC when connected by USB? This will confirm connectivity.

Page 3-29 of the manual suggests that Activesync needs to be enabled on the tablet also.

what OS is on the tablet at the moment Stuart?

If it's any flavour of XP, then the remote software is already installed...

give this a try and see what happens:

start > run> mstsc > OK

you should get 'remote desktop connection' up on the screen?

if you do, all you need next is the wifi card..

also, you're spot on.... once you have the wifi card you can download anything straight to the tablet.. ( assuming you already have a wifi network obviously!! )
