A dab radio will get you more channels including local channels you would not get with freeview.

Also you do not need your tv on to see what channels you are getting/listening to.Also dab gives additional scrolling info such as tracks playing and other info.

The encoding is different at the transmission end (before it reaches us).

Freeview tends to sound worse than DAB.

Actually thats incorrect. DAB and Freeview use the same MPEG1/2 Layer 2 codec and Freeview has better bit rates hence better sound than DAB. I would avoid getting a DAB due to the low bit rates in the UK.. see :eek: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/digital_radio_samples.htm
