Digital Camera virgin!

Hi,

I'm a digital camera virgin and more or less clueless when it comes to them. I'm thinking about getting one to play with, but don't really know where to start. So basically looking for advice and recommendations on what would be a good digital camera for a complete beginner like me? I would like to pay between £60-100, as anything below that will be a bit naff won't it?

I would really appreciate any help with popping my digital camera cherry. :thumbs:

To be honest that's not going to get you much at all. You should be thinking about £200 min. You'll only want better so spend as much as you can now

There are some good cameras around £150 from places like eBuyer. To save money choose an older 5MP camera. In many cases these can give better shots than 7MP camera. Although the resolution is "better" on some of the larger MP cameras, the picture ends up a bit noisier due to the decrease in size of pixels on the sensor.

PS You might end up spending £200 anyway to buy a larger memory card, but it is not impossible to find a good digital at £150 inc VAT.

If you want to keep under £100 go 2nd hand on Ebay - make sure the seller is genuine though !!

just purchased canon a85 powershot from argos for £99.99 in there sale looked on the internet most places still asking £140+ for this model 4meg 3xzoom lots of picture modes

Good camera for £99

I had the A80 then the A95 and have been pleased with both. I think the A85 has a few different modes of shooting available too, maybe even a full manual which is useful if you are learning.

Even my little ole A75 has full manual!
Powershots are cracking little cameras so buy with confidence especially at that price
