I can't find the answer anywhere. I see that some DAB radios have two speakers but then they also recieve FM stereo.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

Hi there
DAB radio is broadcast in stereo as is FM. However some receivers only play out in mono. On another note, if you are thinking about getting a portable unit and are thinking about whether you should buy a mono or stereo one, my personal advice would be to consider the range of speakers that the unit has. I have a portable stereo one with two playout speakers but do sometimes think that I might have been better getting one of the units which plays in mono but has a much bigger speaker with a separate tweeter.
Either way, happy listening

DAB is normally stereo, but there are some stattions that broadcast in Mono, like BBC radio 7, but it is stereo on Dsat or Freeview. If you do not want DAb for portable use, then you may be better off getting a Freeview box and using that for digital radio.

Unfortunately, via Freeveiw, radio is pretty awful sounding.
The information on the DAB stations will tell you if it is mono/ stereo, bitrate. signal quality etc.
99.9 % of current DAB radios have a stereo output and the majority have two speakers even though some look as if they have one.

I have routed BBC7 from Freeview through my AV amp and made a few recordings to MP3. So far so good, could also try the broadband now that we have that. One option would be to use the laptop via wireless but I am not sure that I would want to do that very much. The sound isn't great that way

Radio via Freeview is better than DAB, not much, but it is better, using a SKy box is a better idea. No stations should be broadcasted in mono, this DAB thing is suppose to be the future.
Maybe you should have a look at this website and see for yourself.

At least Freeview is stereo aqnd I sometimes listen to Radio 2, via Freeview and it sounds ok, still not as good as FM, but better than DAb.
Broadband radio quality is still too low.

Most stations coming from Crystal Palace are 'joint stereo', but a LOT are in mono only. Only radio 3 is in true stereo.

The future is DIGITAL for broadcast, not for quality reasons but for money reasons only.
