I picked up a second hand copy of Peal Harbor (3 disc ultimate edition) for a tenner yesterday (which btw Ive never seen this version in high street shops for some reason) and the only reason I got it was for the amazing attack....has anyone else got the film just for the last part....wasnt the rest of it just to slushy with Ben Affleck swooning around...wish they had done something better with it.....or is it just me :hiya:
yes I plumped up the cash for this turkey of a movie for the same reason except I imported the director's cut on region 1 which not only has a tiny bit more violence but a DTS soundtrack to boot! the director's cut also contains four DVDs with the movie spread over two DVDs leaving two DVDs worth of extras and some extremely nice packaging.

Hi West...must sound amazing with the DTS track..i find it always gives u that extra bit of clarity and punch... the DTS version of Saving Private Ryan is another gr8 example of course

Yep, got the R1 Directors set when it was first released...allthough I did hope that possibly the DC would take out a lot of the crap in the movie (allthough then it would only have a running time of about ten minutes :smashin: )
The attack scene is stunning though and is one hell of a demo peice in DTS.

Yes it does sound amazing lionheart, I usually find the same thing with DTS sounding that bit better. The extra clarity and punch makes the soundtracks sound more dynamic and more appealing to my ears. And how great does Saving Private Ryan sound

Which is destroyed for me by the fact that half of the ships that get bombed weren't built until 30-40 years after Pearl Harbour, they couldn't even be bothered to do that bit properly...

Good point John...but i suppose they had to draw a line somewhere cos of cost...im guessing though..maybe they could have made it more authentic with digital touch ups or real construction work on the ships

while i will agree that the attack is good (its the only reason i have the region 1) it doesn't make for a good film - although i did hear the other day that its made more than $450 million worldwide. just shows we humans have very little taste
total rubbish.

Funny you should mention that as when I took my dad to see the film that is the first thing he mentioned to me after the film lol
I have the 4 Disc Directors Cut but have yet to get around to watching either the film or the extra features, tried once on my last player and the discs kept freezing, will have to try them with my newer Pioneer.

If the freezing problem was on the film discs they I would agree :) but the problem was on the documentaries on Disc 3 and 4 and they are ment to be good arent they?

i dont know - i've got the 60th Anniversary Edition, which has a doc about the real incident (which is about an hour) and one about the Japanese which lasts about 4 nano seconds

I've never seen my extras so I couldn't tell you good they are.
