HELP!best picture settings on the denon2910

HELP!!!...I have just bought a denon 2910 to pair with my panny 42pv500 via the HDMI socket. The thing is im a complete novice when it comes to av equipment and their settings. What im wanting to know is if anyone can give me their veiws on what settings to use to give the best,sharpest picture on dvd playback as i really dont have clue. When opening up the menu on the 2910 i can see you can change just about everything but im not sure what these really do or what to set them to.Also im not sure which would give the best picture between the 720p or 1080i. Any help would really be"GREATLY" appreciated as i just want the best possible picture from my equipment
