I really want to get ong bak on the dvd and currently i can find two versions, a australian R0 version form cdwow:

http://www1.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=19471

which contains both the original and luc besson version and the uk one from play:

http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=srmr&page=title&r=R2&title=653854

which seems to have some different extras but dosnt comment on which version of the film it is.

anybody got any more info on these dvds?

cheers

I personally ordered the one from CDWOW.

Hard to say which will be better but on the whole, I find R3 releases to be better then R2.....add the fact this is a Thai film and it seemed like a strait forward decision. :smashin:

Now wait for the reports that the R2 is better :suicide:

the one on cdwow seems like an australian version R4 but is R0, did you get a R3 HK version?

Now you mention it I can see its PAL encoded.....Hmmmm, I assumed it was a HK disc due to it being Region 0.

Now I am not sure at all :god:

Get the Ausie one as thats has the uncut and US version on it(so we can laugh at how crap the US version is).
The UK version is uncut but has had new music added to it - its meant to be very faithful to the original music and works well with the movie, unlike the US version which i believe they added a load of crap Hip hop tunes to it.

I've ordered the R0 2 disk edition from CD-WOW with both versions of the movie. Can't wait to get hold of it, it's meant to be a cracker! I just hope both versions have UK subtitles, not just the cut version.... :god:

Hi,

The BBFC have passed the UK home video/DVD version as completely uncut, with an 18 certificate! However...

The film will be released in 16:9 widescreen, with newly remastered English Subtitles. Plus, there will be a SECOND DVD with a ton of extras on it, (5 hours worth), again all uncut! It's out on DVD in the UK, on the 19th September 2005, priced at about £18-99, on the Premier Asia label.

The list is as follows:

Special Features
- Exclusive Brand New Orchestral Soundtrack Composed Especially For The UK Theatrical And DVD Release
- Audio Commentary By Asia Cinema Exepert Bey Logan
- The Road To Glory – An Eight-Part Making Of Documentary
- The Art Of Muay Thai – An Exclusive Documentary Of The Art Of Thai Boxing
- From Dust To Glory – An Interview With Star Tony Jaa
- Ong-Bak On Tour - Promo Tour Highlights Including Live Martial Arts Demonstrations By Tony Jaa
- Deleted Scenes And Alternate Ending
- Visible Secret – A Rare And Exclusive Rehearsal Montage Featuring Tony Jaa And Action Consultant Don Ferguson
- The Bodyguard – An Exclusive Interview With Don Ferguson
- Mad Dog – An Exclusive Interview With Co-Star David Ismalone
- Pearl Harbour – An Exclusive Interview With Co-Star Erik Markus Sheutz
- UK Promotional Trailer
- 16:9 Widescreen print
- Dolby Digital 5.1 AND Dolby Digital DTS 5.1 soundtracks
- Thai soundtrack with English subs and/or dubbed English language formats
- Running Time - uncut and uncensored 104 minute version

Looks like you should all go and cancel your orders, and pre-order the UK version instead! For a short list, of all the different DVD versions available, just Click Here! Its not really uncut though as the soundtrack has been altered - - Exclusive Brand New Orchestral Soundtrack Composed Especially For The UK Theatrical And DVD Release -
admittally the new soundtrack is meant to be faithfull to the movie (unlike the the USA version)
Also how much does this UK version cost?? alot more than the Ausei version cdwow are selling. So i'm sticking with that as it has plenty of extras and will do me fine.

Fair enough. Each to their own. I just thought it was worthwhile informing people of what the difference was between all the various editions. No probs. :)

since the cdwow version contains both versions of the film, dont you think that would be the better choice?

It wasn't my other half's birthday yesterday, so no such problems for me! The action is amazing when you take into account there's no CGI or wirework involved. I agree with some of the other comments regarding the editing and there's a few too many "slo-mo" replays but it's great fun. I've watched some of the extras and I'd really recommend the Tony Jaa fight demonstrations, they're awesome!

Just because the film has been rescored it doesn't mean it isn't uncut. I own the region 2 premier Asia version and I'm extremely happy with it. I think the music complements the film perfectly and from what I've read on other forums the picture quality is far superior to the Australian release.

the premiere Asia version has subtitles Graham that are not meant for the deaf. It may well have those type of subtitles as well but it definitely has the regular subtitles as that is how I watched it
