From reviews I have read the Tosh tends to get better scores for picture/sound quality.

The main thing comes down to if there are any additional features you would want that the other doesnt have. All well and good to have the best picture in the world but if you really want a SACD player and the one you have dont do that - kind of a waste of money unless you want multiple players.

Hi I had the Toshiba last week and took it back. Picture quality was good but the player felt rushed out and buggy to me - couldn't remember settings, froze sometimes during playback, output the wrong audio (e.g. Dolby instead of DTS). Maybe it was faulty but I wasn't impressed.

Did you get either of these?
I've got a Tosh 340, which I wish to replace cos it's awful jerky/freezes (PQ is excellent when it does work!). If you so a search on this forum for the tosh 340 you'll see it's not just myself....
I'm looking at the Philips myself - I've got a 720SA which plays all dvds (inc divx) fine, but the PQ is not as good as the Tosh.
