How many photo's?

Hi,

Done a quick search but haven't found anything, so how many 6mp photo's should I get on a XD-512 memory card?

Probably been answered a 1000 times before I know but i'm new to this stuff.

Thanks,

Neil

surely it depends on the file size that the camera takes, this is usually selectable in the camera menu (picture size) the smaller and less quality, the less memory needed.

Some camera's will display the amount of pictures that the card will store on each particular setting.

It normally works out at about 1/2mb per megapixel of image but this is only a really rough guide.

At top quality i'd guess 200 ish. At the next best quality setting maybe 350. That's only a guess based on what my camera does at 4mp.

Thanks everyone, that's what I needed to know.

Enough room for my holiday snaps anyway.

Thanks again,

Neil

Hi,
On my Fuji Finepix S-7000, I can fit 339 pictures (saved as Jpeg's) at 6.3 Mega-pixels on a 512Mb Xd card. Obviously it depends on the individual camera because of different compression ratios and file formats. A safe estimate would be 250 to 300.
