All you HTPC freaks out there. Is the sound quality up to a good stand alone player? I don't see how it can be .A very important point to consider, but not one that seems to get much attention. I would be interested in any owners opinions.

Cheers.

You might find the following links of interest. www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/003123.html (http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/003123.html) www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/004507.html (http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/004507.html)

I have the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 and can confirm that for S/PDIF passthough it is very good. I haven't tried it to play CD's using the on-board DACS but the guys on the AVS forum compare the quality with some very up-market Hi-Fi setups.

Thanks Gary,

By the way, how did you get on with your Quadscan problem?

Cheers Rob.

I'm using M-Audio DeltaDIO 2496. I haven't used my standalone player for last 1 year and a half. No only is the sound better than the standalone but the convenience of having your entire CD collection available at the click of the mouse is entirely different dimension.

Try Sonic Foundry SirenXpress player.
