I need to get internet broadband and would like to if possible get a WLAN router with it's own (or a connected) hard drive. Can you buy them either with integrated storage or say a USB ports that you can connect a hard disk to for access from more than one PC? If I could connect a printer/fax machine to it too, that would be great

Hi,
I haven't seen any thing like this !! (but it's a good idea) - I'd like a rack of HDDs just attached to my router acting as storage..
The easiest storage solution is to use a removable USB hard drive that you plug into the PC that will be switched on the most... or build a 2nd file server which you hide somewhere in the house.....

Or get one of the wired Buffalo NAS drives ;)

Have a look at the Asus 500G deluxe, wireless router with local usb ports for disks and printers. Not used it myself but I know people who have.

That looks very interesting  Hopefully we can expect more of this kind of router from the other main players :)
Edit - I still wouldn't trust a wireless only system to cope with transferring or streaming very large files though.

Looks like the disk sharing is via an inbuilt FTP server, not Windows disk sharing.

I guess if the router/disc interface was USB, then I could always plug in direct of need be
