Barco Data 600 problem

Great! My barco seems to die slowly. Right now I'm running out of focus. I replaced almost all electrolytic capacitors but it didn't help.

Symptoms:

- Focus knobs (all three) turned anti-clockwise (fully) and trimmer P4 on
focus board turned fully clockwise to get some kind "readable" picture

- Coil L5 (+17V line) on switched-power board heats like a hell!

Replaced almost all electrolytics from Hor-EHT board too...

Any ideas to get rid of this problem?

Jari Its' been such a long time since I worked on a 600 that I don't think I can help. I don't have a 600 service manual.
I suspect your focus voltage coming from the Quadrupler may be low. It is possible that the focus/diagnostics board is going down but more likely you have a poor voltage somewhere.

Ok. But maybe you can confirm my next question:

Today, my CRT finally died. So, I took Hor+EHT [7612637] card away to check, if SMPS power module works. All voltages found as I expected. BUT, when I put Hor EHT card back to CRT, SMPS unit breaks off. So, next I measured all transistors & fets on Hor+EHT and thay seems to be ok. What was a surprise, primary winding (between pins 19-21) on HV-transformer shows 0.3 Ohm ONLY! So, it looks like, that I need to get new HV-transformer from somewhere?

Okay. Reason of all symptoms found at last. First on monday I will order new splitter to my BD600. CRT works fine, while my temporary repair holds 34kV (about 10 minutes) and focus was great too .

Nice work Jari - hopefully this thread can help someone else if they have a similar problem. What is your temporary repair? Lots of PVC tape?!

First one was made with plastic spray and piece of pvc. It didn't hold too long. Next I'm going to remove this plastic and clean _carefully_ all dust and carbons with aceton. After that I will use "Araldit (2 component, very good glue)" to see, if it can keep 34kV inside splitter.
I'll make several thin glue layers, when it should last longer.

Let's see what happens

Latest fix works only 3 minutes, but the picture was GREAT :-)

That's all. I'll throw old splitter to deepest river and wait new one (ordered already).
