New CRT TV - Which One To Buy?

Got £600 squid burning in my pocket and looking to buy a new 32" CRT and have narrowed it down to the following:

Sony KD32DX51 - £440 (like the look of it)
Samsung WS32Z308P - £550 (new slim crt)
Panasonic TX32DTX11 - £540

Just sold my 100hz Panasonic and don't know if I can go back to a 50hz TV (Sony) as the Samsung/Panasonic are both 100hz, saying that the Sony looks quite sexy.
Another factor is the forthcoming Football season and what TV would suit it best (I like having quite a few mates round for footie and beers )

Maybe their is something better to get and any advice would be really helpful.

I would look at in addition to the Samsung ...

Toshiba 32ZP48.... see my other posts regarding colour purity tho'
Panasonic TX-32PD50
Loewe Aconda 3981ZW
Philips Pixel plus 2 sets if you can find one in your budget... if not just plain Pixel plus. These seem to give rather more clarity and great front to back depth.

All the TV's above have their own individual faults both in sound and vision but as a standard 625 line TV the Aconda is difficult to fault even the sound is to Hi-Fi standard

I would love to get a TX-32PD50 but doubt I can find it below £600.

Those I quoted are achievable within or certainly near your budget.

One thing that these forums do is give lots of lists of faults of different TVs, and reccomendations.
Generaly speaking
- Samsung WS32Z308P - £550 (new slim crt) - if it is new could have teething problems,
- I would give a positive mark to Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba
- Negative mark to Philips

If you will read my post you will see I was speaking "generaly"

I was making the point that if you read these forums you will never make your mind up because there are reports of faults on almost all TVs except the ones which are uncommon or new.
And many people recommend different TVs.
His best hope is to say specifcaly what he is looking for, certain TVs may have good sound or picture or best on price.

I do agree with you tho' you always hear the problems with few praises of the same set. Nobody says: my set is fine and has been since bought or I do not and have not experienced that fault... or your talking kerbunkum my set is fine :-)

I've narrowed it down between the Samsung & Panasonic PD50......aaargh decision time!!

I was in exactly the same predicament as you until yesterday. I spent £550 on an 'a' grade Panny 32PD50 from Hyperfi. It had no stand.

Picture quality is very good (although i havnt fully tested it yet)

There are no problems to report so far, as far as i can tell, i am no expert the picture is great i have a pioneer dcs-323 home dvd cinema system which i had connected to the av1 socket and the sky digital box connected to the AV2 socket and picture quality through sky was poor but dvd excellent. I changed the sky to av1 and the dvd to av4 and the picture quality through sky greatly improved i am only using cheap £5 scarts from argos though so i may invest in some quality scart leads.
