Not sure if im in the right place here, just a quick question what does sky output picture wise?? is it just scart and s-video?? what do you think is better in terms of connection? is it worth buying a scart to component converter from somewhere to get the best out of the picture, if so any recommendations?????
Anyone have a picture of the back of their sky box??
You can use a RGB Scart -> Component converter but it'll not do much with the picture quality.
Often the problem with picture quality on Sky is nothing to do with the connection method used, it's down to the variable bit rate used by the broadcasters.
thats great, so out of scart and s-video which do you think would be better picture quality wise???
Hard to say, s-video can look a little bit softer in my experience which some people prefer. For what it's worth, I use RGB scart to my Hitachi plasma.
With all else being equal you should expect a RGB scart to provide the better feed to the display but it may simply come down to which your own eyes prefer after tweaking the display of course.
RGB Scart is on paper slightly better than S.Video but this can be offset by your equipment. I used the s.video slot as (1) it looks better on my Pd30 (which has known issues with RGB anyway) and (2) it allows connection through my AVR which then upconverts to component
