Recent Sky+ upgarde £49 Offer & Multiroom

I recently used this forum to take advantage of the £49 offer from Sky on getting a refrub Sky+ box, after telling them I would cancel unless they offered me a deal. Thanks to you guys on this forum for this as I would not have Sky+ without you.

They came the other day and installed it is a an Pace V1. When he arrived he also said that he had me down as multi-room and so I told him to put the other digibox inmy bedroom which I thought I could use to watch FTA tv.

When he put this in he then asked me for my additional card for the multi-room offer, I told him I had not received it yet. He then took the card out of the box downstairs and used it to activate the box upstairs, he then said I should receive my new card within the next few days.(I knew that I would not has I never asked for Multiroom).

My Question I guess is two fold, Since he has put the sky card in the box upstairs and it has worked and it also works downstairs can I continue to interchange the card with no drawbacks and secondly if I was to get an extra freesat card for the box upstairs could I continue to use the original card from the downstairs box.

I hope this all make sense. Thanks Nick

my thoughts are you are guilty of breaking the law if you do not tell sky and pay for the work.

(Fruad, gaining a pecuniary advantage).

No need to tell Sky - they will already know. The boxes "phone home".

Sky will not know this box is not connected to the phone line, when the installer arrived I explained that my old box for some reason was never able to use the interactive features, all he did was make sure the connection was plugged it, but when you test the signal it does not work.

Why will Sky not know ? When they command it to "phone home" and it doesn't, they will know. The fact that the installer didn't do the job properly won't interest them. The installer will have got your signature for the boxes, and Sky are rather hot about multi-room boxes phoning home. You will get a warning through the post, and if you don't connect both boxes to the line, you'll find a surprise in your Direct Debit payment

Why would they command it to phone home? At the moment I am only using it for FTA programming. In addition I only signed for one box as the installer said I could keep my original box in took the other new digibox away.

I worry about this country when people are so concerned about "laws" like this.

I doubt you will have any problems Nick Sin. I don't know the answer to your question though sorry...

Isn't it best to just wait and see what happens?

It really depends on whether you receive a second card or not. If you have got signed up for multi-room Sky are very keen to check that both cards are in use in your house, and they insist on both boxes in a multi-room package are connected to the same phone line. It doesn't matter about the hardware, it's the cards they worry about. You really ought to check to see if you are really signed up for multi-room, because it is important.

It's not a law & who's worried ? It's not my bank account that the money will come out of. I was offering a little friendly advice, because other people here have already had money taken from their account for this very reason. If you agree to a contract, Sky expect you to adhere to it, that's all.

Question

Thanks to everyone for your advice re: the multi-room question on cards, I always welcome anyones advice given by the forum members. I phoned sky last night and they have no record of me having multi-room or issuing a 2nd card.

So I still am not sure can I still use my original card in both boxes without any problems, I have been so far, but I have kept it to a minimum and most of the time I have kept it in the original box and if I get a freesat card would this change the current set up.

If that's what Sky told you then I would just carry on using it as you are.
