will sky dishes work ok in attick? lol

right heres the thing, i recently moved in with my partner, we are on the top (3rd) floor, we had sky out to fit a dish et but they said we are to high for them to fit it (something to do with safty) so they called a company to do it...

the company came and the man said theres no way because on the 1st floor theres a alarm shop and they have cameras all over the wall and this crap.

so i was wondering do sky dishs work if u put them in the attic? if so how good is the signal.

this may be a stupid question but i know nothing about sky etc

many thanks

Dishes won't normally work in an attic. If the attic had a window that faced south you might be able to get the glass replaced with a sheet of PVC, which would pass microwaves. Not an easy job, though. A better hope would be to get permission from the people downstairs for a dish lower down the wall.

Why would cameras on the 1st floor prevent you from putting a dish on the 3rd?

PVC attenuates microwave signals less than glass, but it does depend a lot on the composition of the glass.
