Question Connectors

Not sure if this is the right forum but I a buying some new speaker cable. However, I have no idea about connectors. Whilst I am sure there is divided opinion as with the cable are there certain specifications that one should look for in a connector?

Thanks for your help

The audiophile would surely twist the bare wires and stick them into the terminals but I rekon some bananas (4mm) at the amp end and some U=shaped lugs at the speakers will do the trick, gold plated to avoid corrosion.
The above assumes you do have compatible connections at amp and speaker, no spring clip terminals that is.
