Unbalanced output from RME daughter card (AO4S)?

Do any RME 9632 owners use unbalanced outputs from their AO4S daughter cards (ie phonos). If so how have you gone about it?

I can see a couple of options:

1. stereo TRS jack-2 phono adapter, just use one of them to connect to power amp.

2. mono 1/4" jack to single phono adapter.

now I'm getting some cables made up by mark grant with the proper terminations but want to try things in the meantime, would I be ok using just option 2 or will thal cause problems? the RME manual says something about increasing harmonic distortion, but I'm not sure if that means "DON'T DO IT, YOU'LL BLOW UP YOUR SYSTEM" or "don't do it, it might not sound quite as good". If its the latter then fine, I'll just give it a go.

cheers,
owain
