Question Changing to a Smartphone what's best?

OK, I'm new at 'smartphones' since my old paperweight is a Nokia 6110. I currently use the O2 phone card because I HATE being being on contract to anyone where my communications are concerned. I DO like the GSM standard and hope to find it in use more back in the states than when I left three years ago. A few questions:

What is the difference between: Symbian 60,70,90,UIQ series OS??

What other OS standards are popular and why?

Your Opinions on the best new Smart Phones on the market??

I DO prefer quad band so I can use it when I return to the states

Thanks

Hello

I recently purchased an unlocked Orange spv e200 smartphone and its amazing! Plays wma, mp3 and divx!

it is simple to use, very good camera. usb compatible, bluetooth and infra red. it is based on windows mobile, you can skin it to look exactly like XP!

however, smartphones do have a habit of draining the battery quickly!

Go for the C500. It is obviously an upgrade from the C200 and smaller and doesn't drain the battery as described above.

Even better, go for the SPV C550, which is just out. Better screen, higher resolution camera, and comes with Windows Media Player 10.

Just got mine yesterday, and majorly impressed with it. Set most of it up, next step is to start programming it from .NET

If you dont mind the size then go for a P910i...even better you say you want to stick to O2..well if you do some searches you can easily find the settings that allow you to get free internet and unlimited free downloads....real bonus and it'll save you £££'s (only works with P910i & O2)

Don't have the package, but yes, gather there's an issue with V5 if i recall correctly. A patch should be issued soon from the maker of the software though.

Modaco is an excellent resource for information about smartphones, and includes compatibility lists.

Tomtom have just confirmed to me it isn't compatiable, although they didn't mention a patch.
