JVC and f numbers?

I am looking to buy one of the JVC DV camcorders (GR-D290, GR-DF420, GR-DF470)

One has a f1.8 lens, the other two have f1.2.

Which is the better? The f1.2 seems to be more expensive and I get the feeling it offers better opticals, but as a newbie to all this I am unsure!

The general rule with aperture is that all other things being equal, the lower the number the better. It's a measure of how much light the lens lets in. There's a good explantion at:
