Purchasing first system advise needed.

Good evening,

Iam looking at purchasing a Arcam DV79 DVD player, a Arcam AVR300 AV Amp, and B&W's MT30 speaker pacakge. (as a first system)

Just wondering if this is about the best I can get for the money and will it be any good?

Also what cables would I need to hook it up to a Loewe Nemos and Sky box?

Thanks very much for any help, Nik

Hi

you dont say if you are buying new and what you are buying for (AV or 2-channel mainyl?).

Having said that I think the setup is awesome but the speakers are the weak point (the Arcam stuff could work with a lot better stuff).

Also, the AVR250 is as good as the 300 and saves you £300 (only real deciding factor is room size!).

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The system will be new and I will be using it for movies and CD's.

Whats wrong with the MT30's and what would you consider a better buy?

Cheers, Nik

Nik

I don't think there is anything wrong with the B&W its just that I sold some orb audio imports from the states recently on this forum and these are like the Anthony Gallo just cheaper and better (compared to the A'Diva in my opinion). a 5.1 set of these with a sub bought in the UK will set you back about £6-700 and they are very good with music as well.

Also, it depends if you can house larger speakers in your room as I quite like some of the larger Monitor Audio Radius stuff (R275 floor standers at the front with some R225's etc) - they come in a raft of colours (even white) and I think they sound awesome!
