Help buying a camcorder

I am thinking about buying a camcorder digital but want one which can take pictures as well and save them to some sort of memory card. This will be the first camcorder I will have purchased so I'm a novice. I don't want to spend more that £ 300, I will probably take more pictures that shot film but a good dig cam is 150-200 so I thought for the extra money could get a camcorder that will take reasonable pictures as well . Can anyone recommend a camcorder that will fit in with my requirements.

Thanks
