I don't mind personally but it might be worth only putting them in ad sections at the bottom of pages rather than prominently at the top as a compromise.

obviously this is down to my post earlier, and i apologise if my post lost you some money or something, but i did have my reasons.

First let me say, I don't have a problem with porn, although i have no desire to own any porn dvds, i just found it inappropriate for the area i saw it in. i'm sure there are some young members on the forum, perhaps not many, but i bet their parents would have loved to see them looking at dvdskins.com

also, the internet is becoming more and more like like a cheap weekend in amsterdam, with porn and drugs ads all over the place, and i really don't think its necessary, if i wanted porn, i could find porn, i don't need it thrust in my face, if you'll pardon the expression.

also, i was at work at the time, and although they don't mind us using the internet a bit during the day, i'm sure if someone walked past my desk and there's a big pink XXX ad at the top of the page, someone would put 2 and 2 together, come up with 5 and tell my boss i was looking at porn.

lastly, the adult sales/trades section is seperate from the main section on the forums, presumably for a reason, so it makes sense to apply the same rules to advertisements which are also all about sales.

and as a final note, some corporate web filter software monitors click thru's and blocks sites that provide them to sites on their block lists. when dvdskins ends up on corporate block lists for being a sex related site, its possible that avforums will also end up on those global block lists.

I agree with Marc.
Don't have them at all or restrict them to the adult dvd section.
I often have my young lad check for responses to my posts while I am at work. He likes to read the dvd reviews and gaming threads as well.
This is an excellent site. Lets not trash it for cash.

If revinue is an issue why not introduce a small subscription.
Better that than porn ads, pop ups and the ubiquitous cookies that come with that industry.

Not got a problem myself, the more attractive ladies the better but agree with previous comments, keep the main site "clean" lets not get trashy, we have an adult section stick the ads there.

Doesnt bother me personally.

I can see the others points of view, but there is far worse in national and local (come to think of it) newspapers and magazines. Do people stop their kids from reading Home Cinema Choice or Total film? They have more explicit ads.

So thats ok then

This site has managed perfectly well without the addition of XXX banners, if they are needed or even wanted then stick em in the relevant section surely!

Personally it would just be nice to go to a site and not feel embarrassed if someone was looking over my shoulder

forget the fact I'm sat at the puter naked at the mo

it'd be nice to know what some of the female members of the forums think actually, perhaps some of you could post when you vote?

would have also been nice to see how many people would have chosen a no, actually i'd quite like to see porn ads option on the poll, as at the moment the only option is either apathy or objection..

I just said that it doesnt bother me.

Now Im not saying that some children dont look at this site but Im sure its really aimed (purely by the nature of the content of the site) at adults/older teenagers.

Which bit of the banner offended you?

£8.99 with points mate

Trust me I aint bickering mate and we all have a point of view and I do respect yours

My point is just because every other form of media feels happy to display these adds, does that then make it ok in this case?

We do have an adult section, these ads are adult, I know they are just pics of (very) pretty girls and I personally have no problem what so ever with that but my 11yr old lad reads these forums and trust me he is fully aware what XXX means

and if you're not supervising his internet usage, do you think he would explore the link?
