really appropriate..

call me a prude if you like, but is it particularly appropriate having porn dvds advertised in the banner ads on this section? Put them in the adult section by any means, but should they really be in a section for all ages? Will it be v1agra and penis enlargement ads next week?

2 sides of the coin - on one hand, is advertising them in this section OK or not, on the flip side, there's nothing offensive about the banner (it's not in any way sexually explicit).

Some people may not visit the adult section, but they may purchase the DVD's - conversely some people may find it inappropriate.

In fact, realistically, the advert is less explicit than the ones at the back of magazines such as Empire and FHM, as well as less explicit than say Page 3. While I won't condone or condemn the banner, I think given context, as well as the aforementioned examples of where you can find more offensive adverts without going to the "top shelf", I understand your view but think that the only thing offensive about it is that it's pink.

Think thats alittle extreme, the banner is in no way graphic, in fact it shows very good looking ladies faces only.

Other than the words DVDSkin, Adult and XXX in no way was there any mention to "porn dvd's".
In fact your posting was slightly more graphic in nature than the banner, imho.

This banner actually replaced the Cannibal Holocaust banner which no one found offensive...

I noticed it yesterday and while a bit surprised, I certainly was not offended.

However, I would imagine some minors (<18) browse the forum too and therefore the temptation to click on the banner would be quite high.

Quite agree, no one seems to be debating the impact of graphically violent films (which I enjoy as much as anyone) on the formus such as advertising banners for Zombie Holocaust etc, on those poor little cherubs who are under 18!!!

I dont find them offensive but I do feel that as this forumn is open to all ages we should be considerate to all ages and as such I cannot see the need for these type of adertisements to take place on the general boards. There is an adult only section where if an advert of this context was needed by a reader, they would know where to look.
Readding some of the comments above I can see clear points being made, but you expect to find adverts regarding a subject in an appropraite place, You wouldnt see an advert for Carlsberg in the Beano. I think careful placement of adverts can result in pleasent reading to all the readers.

That is true, all Im saying is there is a place for these type of adverts.

Edit - Another thought I like most look at these forumns at work and at home, if they are laced in Porn adverts I would think twice about using this site in front of my daughter and certainly not at work due to content. If quite of others did same due to their circumstances the forumns would loose members.

I am just concerned that excersing "moral" control over content on these forums, including adverts is a slippery slope. Setting presidents could end up curtaling legitimate discussion. I have seen many threads which may offend certain users. How is a banner ad for "XXX Videos" more inapropriate for children than Zombie Holocaust? But I would absolutely defend the right to advertise ZH on these forums.

IIRC The advert in question was not explecit in graphical content......
