Mouse pointer and menu appear during movies

Every 10 to 15 minutes the mouse pointer and menu bar (at top and bottom of screen) appear for no apparant reason

Now I notice that the red light on the MCE remote reciver appears loads - be it typing on a keyboard or sneezing the light comes on - but it never seems to come on prior to the mouse pointer appearing

Is this a knowjn problem - can it be configured not to happen

Unfortunately this is a "feature". If the mouse is connected and moves MCE assumes you are using the mouse instead of the remote and pops up the menu bar

do you have an optical mouse?
i had a similar problem and it was due to the surface the mouse was on. For some reason the constantly flashing beam under the mouse would trigger what XP thought was movement every few minutes or so. I moved it to a soft material surface and the problem stopped.
