Is there a 32" CRT 100Hz TV that isn't flawed...??????

Hi all,
I'm in the market for a new 32" 100Hz TV and I've read a fair few reviews on line and in the mags.

However, I think I've found a good set in a review ( ) only to check on here and find that there are countless problems with it ( )....

Right now I'm not inclined to go LCD / Plasma either and am looking in the "upto £1000" bracket..Picture quality is of priamry concern as I can resolve any sound issues at a later date with a surround sys.

I've been looking in particular at the Philips 32pw9509 and Sony CS70 both of which have documented problems here....(white bands and so forth)

Anyone with any hassle free alternative suggestions ?

Cheers in advance....

I had the same problem. Everytime I found what was being reviewed as a good set, I found some negative comments or people with faults etc.
In the end I gave up and went for it.
I ordered the new Samsung because the display set looked good and my current set is a Samsung which I have had trouble free and picture perfect for the last four years..
I guess not everyone will agree about everything.. Sooner or later you are going to have to take the plunge.
If the set you want reviewed well it should be OK. I found that people with negative experiences were more likely to post comments than those satisfied with the product.
I'm no expert and bow to some on this forum, but, thats my experience and hope it helps.

Every TV has a flaw according to someone. Some say my Sony HQ100 is "unwatchable" which IMO is a load of rubbish. Take a look @ the TV's and make your own decision

Hows about the Sony 32FQ86? Not tremendously popular, but would say it is the equal of the Philips 9509 (without the inherent faults).

Has 3 scarts and no end of picture tweaks.

Not too ugly either.

Panasonic CRT sets are usually a safe bet. Reliability and build tend to be excellent. Picture quality is a little on the soft side for some, but colour accuracy is v.good. Unfortunately Sony have lost their way IMO. Too hit and miss, and reliability has been a real issue for Sony over the last few years. Things may have changed but I haven't seen a recent Sony CRT that impresses in the picture stakes.

I have a Philips Pixel plus set. 32PW9615 (I think thats the model - one of the 1st anyway). I really like the picture, but I know many people who don't like the effect. You also need to feed it with a good RGB pic to see the real benefit of the processing. I say choose either a panny or a philips.

Cheers for the advice , I appreciate that the end decision is down to me and not all the critics on this and other forums.
currently have a 32" Philips on rental and am mighty impressed despite it being "old" 50Hz job.
Looking to shave some monthly expenditure off the books and can get finance deals cheaper for a newer telly.

Time now to take some of all this and actually go and stand in front of the damn things.

Wish me luck

Hi, whilst I'm sure its a good set (with the same video processing circuitry as in the 32" set) I have no experience of this model and cannot give an opinion or recommendation. Regards, yt.

Anyone seen or got a Philips 32pw9570... seems to be the new version of the 9509 but was wondering if anyone knew if the difference extended beyond the cosmetic ?
