How do I correct a white balance cockup in a bunch of jpegs? (eos 350d)

*cough*
So I've had my 350d for a fortnight and today took a bunch of photos, jpegs, and then found the white balance was set to tungsten.

So how do I alter the colour balance/temperature thing to correct them back to daylight?

I have the software that came with the camera inc Arcsoft and Paint shop pro. I don't have photoshop.

Thanks for a lesson.

gvh: I don't think you can convert the WB in JPEGS (you can in RAW), but I've screwed this up a few times and got tolerable - just about useable - results by adjusting Levels and Colour Balance in PS. I assume you can do the same in PSP. The colour adjustments/opposites are Cyan/Red, Magenta/Green & Yellow/Blue, so try decreasing the offending colour or increasing the opposite colour gradually and play with the other settings until you get something you can live with. I'd do this manually, Auto Colour doesn't work for me. Specific/custom WB settings are best, but it's a bit of a hassle and you have to remember to set it up. I normally leave the camera on Auto WB as a default. This works pretty well most of the time, and you can normally adjust the images from this point without too much difficulty, if necessary, using the software. Hope this helps.

You could try using the grey colour balance this goes from artificial light to sunlight in paint shop

It is certainly possible to correct colour balance in jpeg files. In PSP 7 go to Colors>Adjust>Color Balance, select the highlight button, increase the red and decrease the blue, until you have the desired result. Later versions of PSP may be different, as they seem to keep changing the interface.

The results should be perfectly acceptable, though theoretically not as good as doing it in RAW.

Background: Daylight has a fairly uniform colour balance, tungsten light has very little blue light and not much green, so if you take pictures in daylight with colour balance set to tungsten , you get pictures with a very strong blue cast. To correct this you need to reduce the blue channel gain, or white point. There are usually several ways of doing this in the various editing programs.

And this is why you should shoot RAW
