Mine is desktop mounted for practical reasons. My most suitable position (over the fireplace) is directly opposite a window with direct sun for the first half of the day and the other possible wall is where a previous owner chose to fit a convection storage heater. Mine presides on a low glass table and looks pretty smart regardless.

Personally, I think wall mounted look best - but the screen may not be in the
best position, it is much more hassle (particularly if screen/cabling requirments change with replacement screens) and too permanent (what happens when you move). Therefore I prefer either a floor stand or pedestal. |

I prefer the pedestal look on a glass table. For me the only wall suitable is above a gas fireplace...
1. I like to keep the option of using the fireplace if needed 2. If I did wall mount in that position then the TV would be too high for my personal tastes. This is one of those personal choices that only you can decide on what you prefer. I'm guessing most people prefer wall mounting because it's perceived as a neater install but to my mind most wall mounts I have seen seem too high up the wall for my liking. I have seen a few which look really cool though. S.

I have no option because of the size of plasma and shape of room.
Ideally I would like it in the centre of the wall, not too high but I has to mount mine over the fireplace. Have a look: http://www.avforums.com/forums/attac...chmentid=14847 I am going to alter the fireplace soon so I may drop it a bit lower. |

If i were choosing between wall mount or desk top stand i would go for the stand on a low cabinet. Whilst wall mounts look cool, most that i've seen on this forum ( Photographs ) appear to be far too high. I was always led to believe that televisions should be roughly at eye level. I personally wouldn't want to be looking upwards at a screen but i know others are probably ok with their screen high up. Just out of interest, has anyone mounted a screen high on a wall, found it tiring to watch and then changed to a stand on a low cabinet ? Geoff.

^^^ Yep, it's astonishing how high people place them, even when there's no fireplace below. The logic appears to be: it's thin (like a picture), it's got a frame (like a picture), so therefore it should be hung at the same height you'd hang a picture... Forgetting that pictures were traditionally hung high to be viewed from a standing position, and that most people hang even their pictures too high, too!
I'm about to put a swivel wall mount in for my 37PV500, keeping the bottom of the screen about 40cm off the floor...

Ours is wall mounted and when we first sat down to watch it we thought it was maybe a little too high as we were sitting upright, but then discovered it was in the perfect position as we tend to lounge on the sofas with our heads naturally back resulting in the perfect viewing position. Visually it looks fantastic when you walk in the room and certainly gives a wow factor.
The whole reason why we bought a plasma was soley to make more room in our our lounge and now we have achieved that. We couldn't see the point in spending thousands of pounds on a plasma if it was going to be put on a stand because then we would have been back to square one with regards to space.
