Z3+HTPC. DVI or VGA?

Hello,

Soon I am going to build a new HTPC to go with my Z3. I am probably going to get a 6600GT card since apart from movies I want to play some games also (I am open to suggestions about video card by the way)

My Z3 has the 1.01 firmware. Will I have any problems if I connected with DVI->HDMI?

Is the image produced by the HDMI much better than VGA?

as far as I am aware I have the 1.01 firmware and mine is locking up using hdmi, although I am not 100% sure of my firmware.
By all a/c's the HDMI is a lot better than vga.

Well, the image might be better with HDMI but if it locks then it can't be better in general. So the question now is: Should I invest in an HDMI cable (they are not cheap!) and then change to VGA if I get the lock ups, or should I go directly with VGA?

well VGA - analouge signal, HDMI - Digital. HDMI will beat VGA. it all depends on who you talk to really and what devices your connecting. for instance ive seen my PC monitor running games and video over VGA and DVI and i couldnt tell the difference really unless i really really looked. hooking my HTPC to my PJ by vga and DVI there was a night and day difference to my eyes. so much more sharper in the digital signal. problem you have is ive read alot of times about the lockup on the Z3 with HDMI. think people refer it to the predator effect when sending HDMI at 720p. this maybe the sony or the sanyo that does this so you'd have to find out

Any other owners of the Z3 that have tried both the VGA and the HDMI?

I want to get the best picture possible out of my HTPC but I don't want to spend 60 pounds on an HDMI cable and then get lock ups. That would be very disappointing.
