CR80 Remote Peeves?

Hiya,

My AVR300 is a day old now and its truelly become a delight. I had my father over to give it a listen and he was fairly pleased, he seems to have as much of a keene ear as i do... I guess it runs in the english blood :D.

In any case i have set everything up the crossovers set to 50hz, the component output and inputs are set... i have no desire for 7.1 setup so 5.1 it is.

Towards the end of the night last night i tackled the remote control and i have a few questions/comments for the more experienced cr80 users out there.

- I find it a bit odd that when u select source (amp + sat) you are in dvd mode at that point the volume does not work for the avr300 u have to click amp again to use the volume. I did give the volume lock a look i tried and it didnt work? maybe i did something wrong?

- another issue which i suspect may be for the avr300 is that when i switch sources e.g a lot many times i would be watching news tickers on tv and listening to music so i would hit cd. when i do so it resets the display and brings it back instead of not touching the display at all. In the menu i tried setting it to "none" at that point gives me a blank screen.

I am not too concerned about the video reset issue i am mostly kinda peeved about the volume setting as i tend to adjust the volume a lot.

I was even considering spilling a few hundred dollars on the Harmony 880 and it may not have similar issue?

ThanX in advance.

Just to share, I also cannot adjust the volume when the remote is set to DVD mode. The player is a Denon 2900.

I take it you guys have set the Volume Lock to Amp (p11 of CR80 manual)

Press and hold (SET) until the LED blinks twice
Enter 9 9 3 and then press (AMP)

The VOL+, VOL- and MUTE buttons should now work the AMP, irrespective of the selected source.

I want to control my Marantz CD5400 with my CR80. I have tried all the Marantz codes listed in the CR80 manual (0029, 0157, 0180), but none of them seem to work.

Any suggestions?

I have the cheaper, and older Marantz 5200, but it is still superb. Everything in my signiture that has a remote control is controlled by it. Highly recommend these multi remotes, and the equivalent Philips pronto versions of the Marantz ones. They are expensive, but worth it in the long run
