Pace DTVA won't switch off

My parents Pace DTVA won't switch off. I think it might be the remote control stand-by button doing a "double-bump". But has anyone heard of this before?
The LED on the unit changes colour to indicate it's recieved a signal, but doesn't show a red-LED to indicate stand-by.
The unit is only 18 months old. There is no power switch, or any other switch, on the box itself.
