Upgrade from DVD to CD player for my CD's?

Hello,

I am listening to my CD's on a sony DVD/CD player at the moment it's a
DVP-NS705V.

My system is an Marantz SR6200, Mission 74i floorstanders, Mission 71 rears and a mission 72C centre.

I am thinking about upgrading to a dedicated CD player, how much difference in sound quality would I acheive with one of the midrange players, such as, Cambidge Audio 640C azure or an Arcam CD72 or 73?

If it is worthwhile getting a dedicated CD player what's around for £200-£300?

Thanks

there would be a marked improvment but i would say go for a second hand exdem unit. Different players produce a different sound i would call the sony bright as i have a ns930.

One of the few worthwhile DACs(new that is) at that price range is the MF X-DAC 3....nicely made, good sound quality, relatively inexpensive, and upgradeable with a separate PSU should you wish.

I'd say that Nick's suggestion is well worth looking into, and certainly worth taking a few of the budget DACs like the MF for a trial.

You may be thinking of the NOS DAC and TUBE DAC+....if you do a search on NOS DAC,it should provide you with links and prices of about $250(US) or thereabouts but in kit form, although it can be supplied built as far as I can remember.
