BOSE sound probem

When watching TV through my lifestyle 12, when I listen close to the surrounds, it sounds like they are underwater
I am coming out of the TV sound out and into the BOSE video input.

Any ideas?

Do you need to set it to some sort of surround mode?

I was expecting some BOSE comments...

Video mode is surround on a BOSE and the AUX mode is dolby digital.

So... have you done the basics checked all the cabling from tv to Bose, and then to all the individual speakers etc...

Does it have a test tone somewhere in it's setup, if so run that and do all the speakers work fine with that? If it's in the right mode all the cabling is correct and test tones work fine, but all you get is underwater out of the rears... I'm stumped. It's not just done some weird reset and you need to raise the level of the rears?

EDIT: Oh how about DVD's do they have the problem as well or is it only when watching the TV that you have the problem?

I have just put a new plasma on the wall so going to sort out all my wires and try your suggestions, thanks

Pro logic always sounds watery on the surround speakers. If its dolby digital, I would say the speaker is knackered or the processor is at fault. If it helps my 200 quid pioneer all in one never does it on dolby digital.

It may even be the mix that is at fault.

hi there, imho you need to get a dedicated home cinema amp with some speakers that can do surround sound....sorry if I offend you, but I don't consider BOSE speakers to be any good unless they are in a car....

if it is a chirping while sound is vocals, News progs etc then thats the Bose processing I am afraid i would stick to stereo for TV or if the LS12 has it just the front 3

I don't see how that was unhelpful? This is a forum for everyone and I was stating what I thought. I don't have time to visit the boards that often so i can't always comment unto the thread is a little older.

If you would prefer that I only commented on new threads i will do so.....

but whatever I say is imho and sometimes its good to hear the same thing more than once to reinforce it...

in short alexs2....i think you are being a little harsh.

I think I was perfectly clear in what I'd said in response to a previous post above,and mal600908 seemed to believe he was in for some Bose comments as well.

I don't consider it harsh to suggest that advice given should be helpful to the person requesting it.

My comment about the post being older was based on mal600908 having left it alone for a good while despite visiting the forums regularly.

Thanks for the comments, it sounds fine in 5.1 mode, I think it is when the sound from the TV isn't coming in surrouns that it processes it and sounds a bit dodgy.

The system did cost me nearly £2K so I am not looking to upgrade it yet.
It does suit my needs being fairly discreet, so I can't justify upgrading.

I wasn't a member on these forums when I bought it, so ignorance is bliss.

How much do I need to spend, and what do you recommend?

The best way to approach this is to decide first of all whether you do wish to upgrade or not,and then how much you'd be willing to spend.

You could put together a receiver and separates system for as little as £1k or spend pretty well as much as you could think of....I would say that by spending up to £2k you will find yourself with a much more versatile and satisfying system,that can be used as the basis of something better still as funds permit.

As you say though,you've already spent a reasonable amount as is,and don't wish to upgrade currently,but if you should at some stage,there should be plenty of advice available.
