Search the AV Forums from your browser toolbar

Forum member eviljohn2 has created a plugin for Firefox (the recommended browser for the AV Forums) which enables you to search the forums from the Firefox toolbar.
Installation takes less than a minute and does not interfere with the normal running of your computer or browser.
Firstly save these two files to your Firefox searchplugins folder - by default this should be

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins

avforums.src and avforums.gif

Then close all instances of Firefox and restart it. And lastly select the AV Forums search from the drop-down list.

We hope you find it useful. And thanks go to John.

Hi Stu,

Nice job (+ John too).

On a different but related note, is it possible to make the AV search engine automatically include the subject line in the search as well?

For instance, see this thread:

For sale: FS: 4 x £50 vouchers for Comet.

It only mentions "comet" in the title. I remembered I wanted to read it again since yesterday, so I searched for "comet" in both the classified forum (search this forum) and as a general search. Try it: searching for Comet will not find this thread. Fortunately I also remembered that woolworths was in the message body, which the search found.

It would be useful (IMO) if the search could include titles.

If you go to the proper search page here:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/search.php

You can choose to search title only instead of Search Entire Posts.

Thanks for that. Didn't see it......

However, if you put Comet in a title search it will not find the thread I linked to !!!

Does anyone else have the same issue:

I use TheDVDforums, AVForums, MSE - with Firefox. Only AVForums will hang on egg-timer when I submit a reply or whatever. The reply is posted, just that the page does not follow through.

Weird, any suggestions please?!

Ta.
