New telly, same old questions

Received new TV Saturday - great! But after 15 hours on my knees yesterday, I need help. I have Sky+, no RF ariel input, and an LC37gd1e. PQ is OK but am wondering how I can improve it? I have linked the 2 boxes together with good quality scart leads. Is it something straightforward I'm missing? It says "on the tin" that the TV has component in, DVI in - should i be using any of this. Honest I've RTFM and don't particularly understand much of it. As the name suggests i am a B of a T but any help would be appreciated.
Ta
(p.s this is the easy question - I'm about to ask an even more ridiculous question non the DVD forum; I lost my DAV-s500 user manual - honestly I've no chance - hmmm....)

This is one of the most asked questions. Unfortunately, looking at something on a bigger screen shows up all the imperfections, and unfortunately satellite is far from perfect !

You can make minor improvements by playing around with the interconnects - make sure you have the Sky+ box set to RGB on the scart. You might even try connecting via s-video, because some TV's actually look better with that interconnect. It's all a bit of "trial and error", I'm afraid, and the phrase "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" is a phrase very applicable to many channels on the Sky+ service

Cheers Nick - I'm off to give that a go. Hear what ur saying about the various PQs, Sky movies seemed to play better than some channels and interestingly adverts seem to come through pretty good. - Later.

Many channels have a "variable bit rate", and it's rumoured that advertisers pay extra to have the bit rate turned up for their ads ! Don't know how true that is, but you're right, adverts often seem better than the programmes.

Thx again Nick - moved the sky+ onto RGB and Ithink the PQ is a bit better. Roll on HD output next year. Maybe I'll try with s-vid but I guess I'll need a nother cable for that.
Regards.
