Attention (please) iScan HD owners
I have a problem with my iScan HD that has foxed even the highly expert and reputable dealer who installed it. He is going to talk to DVDO about it but in the meantime I wondered if any forum members have had a similar experience. It will not save zoom and pan settings when switching between sources and aspect ratios - they revert to zero whenever a different source or ratio is selected. This happens on both DVD and Freeview. It appears to be a software issue, even though the latest version is installed, as the dealer has tried a second HD with the same result. The only setting it will save is overscan, which is not a very satisfactory solution as part of the picture is lost. Any thoughts anybody?

if you are using HDP-5.6-2.32 or earlier, then you have to use the PRESET setting to use your zoom & scan settings. unfortunately you dont get separate settings for each aspect ratio.
I believe the latest beta software does things in a much more flexable, but complicated way regarding the preset.

Thanks for that, Chris. The software is 1.12-5.6 1-42, which I understand is the latest version (updated when the dealer installed the SDI module). Pressing the preset button simply brings up the most recent adjustment you've made, irrespective of source or aspect ratio, which is worse than useless. Incidentally the problem predates the SDI mod so can't be anything to do with that. Puzzling isn't it? The dealer says it's supposed to remember zoom and pan settings for every input.

Incidentally the software you cite is for the HD+, not the HD which is the model I have.

sorry, I thought you had a + when I wrote my reply
My + behaves in the way you describe, so I use the preset as my 4:3 option as this seems to require it more than Wide on my system.
I think your dealer is mistaken, although I too have the SDI option fitted.

Chris, after a careful perusal of the manual I think you're right - the SDI counts as one input irrespective of 480i or 576i, therefore different zoom and pan settings won't be saved. That's very annoying as region 1 DVDs always need to be panned and zoomed, often by different amounts. I think I may have to swop it for a Lumagen as that does appear to have the capacity to save sub-sets of adjustments.

The newest beta (for the HD+) does allow all sorts of saved settings per input per refresh frequency (so the blurb says). maybe you should consider the + (its only £100 more)
